Parkinson's Pill Dispenser
Project type
Advanced Manufacturing & Design
Date
Fall 2025
Location
Duke University
This project is a motorized pill dispenser designed to support people with Parkinson’s disease by improving medication safety and independence. The device uses a rotating divider mechanism to dispense exactly one pill per press, paired with a dosing timer, audible reminders, and a lockout system to prevent double-dosing. A suction base stabilizes the device during tremors, and the internal pill chute ensures smooth and easy retrieval. Designed with manufacturability and low cost in mind, the system can be produced for under ten dollars at scale.
